Mark A. Keily
August 31, 1946 - June 9, 2021
The family of Mark Keily is very sad to announce that Mark died on June 9, 2021, in Dayton, Ohio, after a courageous ten-year battle with cancer. Mark was born in Niagara Falls, New York, on August 31, 1946. When Mark was in elementary school, his family moved to Boston while his dad was getting his PHD at MIT, and that is where Mark became enthralled with New England. He started his passion for antiques at his great aunts house in Middletown, Connecticut. When Mark was in high school, his family moved to Cincinnati. He then went on to college at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he met Sandy. They were married the day before they graduated in 1969, and that is when their adventure began. They taught school in Toledo, Ohio, where they went to auctions and antique shops on the weekends and renovated houses in the summer. Six years later Mark became a full-time antique dealer and real estate entrepreneur in Cincinnati. They were instrumental in founding the Columbia-Tusculum Historical District in Cincinnati, and they were awarded a preservation award for renovating the Langdon House by the Miami Purchase Society. Mark always had a project, and he went on to renovate over one hundred buildings. Mark read every available book on American furniture, paintings, and folk art, and he soon started doing antique shows in Ohio and Michigan, and later he did shows in New England, New York, and Philadelphia. Mark was also deeply involved in education. He and Sandy own two Sylvan Learning Centers; Mark could make any lesson into a story, and he loved working with children and they loved him. Mark always had a positive attitude, an infectious laugh, and lived life to the fullest. He loved his family, his friends, antiques, paintings, folk art, real estate, education, and fishing. Mark is survived by his wife, Sandy; his daughter, Jennifer; his son, Hector; his daughter-in-law, Laura; his grandson, Zaire, and his granddaughter, Kassia. Mark will be missed and remembered by many friends and family throughout the country. A visitation will be held at Charles C.
